The tee shot should be one of your favorite shots. This is the only shot you have the most control over in your golf game. You control the situation completely. Don’t just place the ball anywhere in the tee box. Choose your placing position wisely – if the hole is more to the left then place your ball to the right of the tee box and vice versa.

Your tee shot is the most powerful shot you will have to make during the game. The power and the distance are important. If you have a bad tee shot you will have to try and make up the mistake with better short shots. You will struggle to get your shot back left with a longer second shot or not even making it to the green. If you find the rough or woods you could struggle to get back on the fairway. This could make out to be a miserable day on the golf course.

When lining up to take your tee shot remember not to over extend your arms. Stay comfortable keep your knees bend slightly and use your body movement to give the utmost power in the shot. Do not bend your back try to keep it straight.  Keep your head down and keep your finishing position for a few seconds. Practice your tee shot at the driving range as this will be similar to the shot you need to execute when playing your game.

Do not over-rotate your hips as your hands and arms will not keep up during the shot. Your club head will not be accelerating at impact. This does not mean you should try and move your hands and arms faster rather just slow your hips down and let your arms swing naturally.

Quick Tips for Golf Tee Shots

•    Use different approaches when you place the ball. Taller players might have to place the ball more towards the back. Keep the ball closer to your left leg if you are right handed and tall.

•    When you place your ball for the drive place it wider than your shoulder width.

•    Make sure your left shoulder is in line with the target because this allows you to be squarer with the target. This method gives more power when driving the ball.

•    Use your body weight when you hit the ball and rotate your body during the downswing.

•    When you want a perfect swing move your shoulders. On the backswing you need to get your left shoulder close to your chin and the downswing should be just the opposite to this moving your right shoulder to your chin - giving more power during the shot.
